Quick to pitch, roomy enough but compact
4_5 out of 5

Good value when bought on sale

Pros
Light
Roomy-ish
Compact (packed)
Quick and easy to pitch
Blocks wind well

Cons
Condensation
Quality of stitching & ties (tbc over time)
Sleep only , no admin space in rain
Paracord reqd to pull tight and increase room

Same limitations of most bivvi in terms of space and practicality. Used in -5deg with windchill on top and blocked that completely, where my normal basha wouldn't have. However cooking etc has to be done outside and was brutal in that weather

Good in summer, with minimal kit on longer overnight hikes and just need (midgie) cover

OEX Salamanda Bivi
4_5 out of 5

This is a great product and I have been using this for a number of years on multiday hikes in the wild. The fabric is 100% waterproof so don't be fooled into thinking its breathable, yet this relies on ventilation which works well. All bivi bags will condensate including gortex. This will not need a tarp to keep it dry, unlike gortex which will soak through during long periods of rain. I use a breathable sleeping bag cover to combat any condensation (OEX bush bivi bag). The Salamanda is very quick to pitch, more room than most, with an excellent bug net doorway giving great viability. 10/10..

OEX Salamanda first use
4_5 out of 5

Set up for the first time in the dark on a stealth camp and recommended be a fine gent, the English Woodsman.
I was concerned about possible condensation and how warm it might have got, yet none of that. So easy to set up and get in/out of.
I’m 6.1. Plenty of room inside considering how low profile this is. With the front rain cover open and the mozzy net zipper down, there was a nice breeze flowing through.
I’m really happy with this and look forward to using it again soon.
